, You have qualified to compete in the 2006 GemStars Pageant Productions Arizona State Finals! Are you ready to have some fun! The finals will be held June 2nd-4th, 2006. We want everyone to have a great time at the Sunny Days pool Party Saturday, bring your swimsuits, sunscreen and get ready to slip down the water slide. We will be crowning the new GemStars Pageant 2006-2007 AZ State Royalty on Sunday afternoon!

This years finals will be held at the Sheridan Crescent Hotel at 2620 W Dunlap Ave. Phx., We have a limited number of rooms blocked at the rate of $79.00 per night. You can reserve a Club level room for $99.00 per night which includes a snack buffet at night and a deluxe continental
breakfast.. For reservations call 602-943-8200 and tell them you are with GemStars. Rates are good until May 22nd. Good luck to all the contestants, lets have a fun and exciting weekend!
We are asking each contestant to bring 30 small good luck gifts to registration. These can be pins, straws, candy anything you wish, and labeled from your child. Also, bring a medium sized bag with your childs name on it so we can put the gifts into it. At group line-up on Saturday we will give each contestant a gift bag of goodies! We will also be giving these gifts to each judge along with their thank you baskets.
****Mandatory Competition****
There will be 3 phases of Mandatory competition, Up-close evaluation(0-4),Interview(5+),
Pageant or formalwear, and sportswear.
Interview: Babies 0-4 years old will have an up-close evaluation with each judge and 5+ will have 2 minutes with each judge. All ages must wear purple GemStars t-shirt that will be $10.00 and can be ordered on registration form. 0-4 year olds can wear any type or colored bottom. 5+ must wear white shorts, skirt, skort or capris, white socks and white tennis shoes. NO make-up can be worn for interview for ages 0-12 and 13+ may wear light make-up. Hair for all ages must be worn back from the face in a headband, ponytail, French braid, etc. NO pageant hair, extensions, pieces or excessive hair accessories. NOTE: These rules must be followed. If a judge questions the use of make-up they will call in one of the directors and a parent and make-up will be checked. If rules are not followed each judge will deduct 2 points.
Pageant or Formalwear: Girls 0-4 must wear a short dress. Any fancy party dress or pageant dress. No tights or nylons. Girls 5 and up may wear short, tea length or long dress/gown. No tights or colored hose. Shoes should match dress. All boys can wear a suit or tuxedo.
Just a reminder: You will be judged on personality, poise, natural grace and elegance. Your dress is a reflection of your taste. Do not wear a dress so busy that nobody pays attention to the person wearing it. Cost of the gown will not be considered but fit, style and color will be.
Age divisions for state: Girls (0-12mos)(1-2)(3-4)(5-7)(8-10)(11-12)(13-15)(16-18) Boys (0-2)(3-4)(5-7)(8-10)
ALL AGES-ALL CATEGORIES: NO false eyelashes, flippers or color changing eye contacts. Hairpieces or extensions may be worn but directors must be notified, as the contestant will not be eligible to win prettiest hair award. If anyone chooses to wear any hairpieces without notifying the directors 2 points per judge per category will be deducted. NO hairpieces or extensions are allowed in All American Girl/Boy competition.
Sportswear: Plain to semi-glitz, your choice. NO sequins or rhinestones on mandatory sportswear. This outfit can be pants, capris or a dress. Boys can wear nice slacks and a dress shirt or golf style shirt. This is a mandatory t-walk with upbeat music. Jacket or skirts can be removed but no tricks can be performed. Note: Project a healthy, active, confident image. Use good posture and make eye contact with the judges. Show your personality!
NO COACHING CHILDREN OVER 4 YEARS OLD. 2 POINTS PER JUDGE WILL BE DEDUCTED IF CAUGHT COACHING 5 YEARS AND UP. This is for every category that coaching is seen.
**SUPREME OPTIONALS**
Cover-Photomodel-Portfolio
: We will need 1 photo each for cover and photomodel and 5-7 pages to make up the portfolio. Cover should be a good clear b/w or color headshot in a 5X7 or 8X10. The winner will be placed on the cover of our program book. We will have a separate cover winner for Digitally Enhanced photos. The winner will be placed on the back cover of the program book. If you want to enter both Natural and enhanced photos there will be a $5.00 charge per extra picture. Photomodel should be ¼ body to full body shot, it can be a character photo, b/w or color, 5X7 or 8X10. The winner will be the center of the program book. Portfolios should be 5-7 pages showing different moods, looks and styles, any shape or size. Any additional photos for any category will be $5.00.
Talent
: Any hobby, ability or interest you have can be developed and presented as a talent. Dress should be age appropriate.
Express yourself and show any special aspect of your personality. Just because you dont sing or dance doesnt mean you dont have talent. If you sculpt, paint, draw, cheerlead, or play a sport there is a way that they could all be presented as your talent. Costumes must be tasteful and age appropriate. Routines or presentations must be no longer than 3 minutes. Bring your music on tape or CD and have it cued. Singers must have music with no lead vocals included.
Talent age divisions: (4-6)(7-10)(11-13)(14-16)(17+)
Academic
: You will need to turn in any certificates or awards from school, extra curricular activities, community involvement and your most recent report card. Each certificate, letter, award sheet, badge medal or ribbon is worth 2 points, each B on your report card is worth 5 points and each A is worth 8 points. These scores will be added to the other required scores to award Topaz Supreme.
Modeling
: This is a pro/am anything goes. Outfit can be sportswear, westernwear, sleepwear, Patrioticits your choice! Be tasteful when choosing outfits. We want our little girls to look like little girls and our older girls to look their age. All routines are to be no longer than 90 seconds. All divisional winners will perform their routine at the grand finals.
All American Girl/Boy
: This is a very natural optional. You must wear a nice simple cotton outfit or dress. NO makeup for contestants under 13. NO pageant hair, NO hairspray, extensions or pieces allowed. You may curl your childs hair but it must be brushed out. There will be a winner in each age group and 1 overall All American!
**Large Optionals**
Photogenic
: Submit 1 8X10 or smaller at registration. Any additional photos are $5.00
We will be judging enhanced and unenhanced separately.
Bathing Beauty/Macho man
: Female contestants must wear a one-piece swimsuit or a tankini (the top must meet the bottom) no bikinis accepted. You are permitted to wear a wrap but no removal will be allowed. Boys can wear any kind of swim trunk. This is a standard T walk. No modeling.
GemStars wear
: This is becoming a fast favorite of ours. Design and create an outfit you feel expresses GemStars! Our colors are purple and gold and our logo is a crown with a shooting star coming out of it. We also use a lot of stars and of course the different gems. Have fun!! This is a standard T walk.
NOTE: Photogenic score and your highest score of the other 2 large optionals are used for Queen of queens and supremes. You do not have to do both optionals if you dont feel comfortable with one or the other.
**Mini Optionals**
All Mini optionals will be judged while in group line up during mandatory formalwear. Optionals available are Prettiest hair, Prettiest smile, Prettiest eyes, Best dressed, Best Personality and Most Beautiful.
**State Parties and Fun**
There will be an informal orientation on Friday night after interviews. This is Mandatory for all contestants and one parent. All 2005-06 Royalty and one parent must also attend. On Saturday night after competition we will be having a Sunny Days pool party !! There will be a full meal served. Sunday after competition we will have our Grand Finals awards. One chaperone ticket to all functions is included in your pageant fees. Additional tickets for each food function or a weekend pass maybe purchased.
*****************ALL CONTESTANTS AND ROYALTY********************
On Sunday after the last competition all qualifying outgoing royalty will be riding in a limo to spend some time together. Please dress appropriately. All competing contestants must be outside the Hotel for the send off of the limo. Roll call will be taken & there will be a one point deduction per judge if you are not there to support the Royalty. They have worked hard all year and deserve the recognition. Next year this may be you!!
Sportsmanship reminder: Please remember all the rules, we do not want anyone to have points deducted. All actions on and off stage will be observed. Points will be deducted if poor sportsmanship or bad attitude is seen by any of the judges. This goes for the actions of parents as well, our children follow our actions. Also we ask if you are not busy during some of the events or are not competing In that event, please try to watch as much of the pageant as possible to show the other contestants support and encouragement.
**Secret Sisters & Brothers**
This is a big hit with the children. After we get all the registrations and gather the names of the children that wish to participate (this includes royaltythis is not a required activity), we will exchange names and assign each child with a secret pageant pal. You will receive the name of your childs secret sister or brother a week before the pageant so you will have time to prepare. Each child will need to bring a small gift for their secret sis or bro for both Friday and Saturday. These gifts will be placed by your child secretly, LOL, on the gift table each day. You will need to bring one nicer gift for the grand finals where they will deliver it personally and reveal themselves to their secret sister/brother!
The one thing we do ask is if you sign up to do this please dont forget to put your gifts on the table each day because we dont want to see any unhappy faces if a child doesnt get their gift.
***AD PAGES***
Ad pages for the program book can be sold to help reduce your pageant costs. Full 8X10 ad pages are $50.00. You can break that down into 2 5X7 ads, 4 business cards or 17 good Luck lines per page. We put your 3X5 picture on each full page sold. For each $50.00 ad page you sell you can deduct $25.00 off your entry fees!! Good luck lines can be purchased for $3.00 per line.
***DEADLINES***
Due to the fact that I am trying to keep the entry cost as low as possible, and the total time frame involved, early bird discount deadlines will be adhered to. First 5 contestants that send in payment in full for supreme package by May 8th will receive full package for $275.00! Be one of the first 10 to Send $125.00 deposit by May 15th and take Early bird discount of $30.00 off package I-II or $20.00 off package III. All registrations, cover and roster photos & all fees are due by May 22nd. No personal checks will be accepted after May 22nd. PLEASE take note of the early bird deadlines.
***TITLES AND AWARDS***
Mini Optionals: Will receive a trophy
Large Optionals: Will Receive a trophy, banner and gift
Cover-Photo model and Portfolio: There will be one overall winner for each of these that will receive a nice trophy, banner, tiara and gift.
Talent: Each age division talent winner will receive a nice trophy, banner, tiara and gift. Each runner up will receive a trophy or medallion.
Queens and Kings: Will receive a beautiful 2 post trophy, a gorgeous 5-6 crown, monogrammed banner & gift. They also will get $150.00 off Nationals in Sept.
The winner in each age division is the person with the highest scores in all mandatory categories. Each Prince and Princess will receive a trophy, banner and gift.
Queen of Queens/King of Kings & Overall All American: There will be 3 age divisions for this title (0-4)(5-10)(11+), with exception of All American. Both boys and girls divisions are combined for these titles. These titles are given to the person with the highest combined scores in Mandatory, large and mini optionals and All American score for Overall All American. Each winner will receive a beautiful trophy, monogrammed banner, a beautiful 61/2 crown, a very nice gift and $150 Savings bond. They also will get $150.00 off National fees in August. This is an Overall title and the winner cant win age division Queen or King.
Topaz Supreme (Academic Supreme):
This is an Overall supreme title. Only 1 will be awarded. The contestant with the highest scores in Mandatory, Mini and large optionals, and academic points will receive a beautiful round bucket crown, monogrammed banner, very large trophy, scepter, very nice gifts, $150.00 off national fees in August, and $300 Savings Bond (cash equivalent given on stage). You must be entered in Package I to win this title. The winner will not be able to win age division.
Emerald Supreme(Photo Supreme):
This is an Overall supreme title. Overall highest combined scores in Mandatory, mini and large optionals, cover, photomodel, and portfolio will win this title. This winner will receive the same awards as the Topaz supreme previously listed. You must be entered in one of the first 2 supreme packages to be eligible for this title.
Sapphire Supreme (Modeling supreme):
There will be one overall winner. This title is highest combined scores in mandatory, mini and large optionals, and your pro/am modeling score. Same supreme prizes apply. Must be entered in supreme package I to win this title.
Ruby Supreme (Talent Supreme)
: There will be one overall winner. This title is highest combined scores in mandatory, mini and large optionals, and your talent score. Same supreme prizes apply. Must be entered in supreme package I to win this title.
Amethyst Supreme (Royalty Ambassador):
This is one of our highest supreme titles. The director will give the judges a list of contestants who have been spirited, supportive and involved in the GemStars Pageant system. Throughout the weekend the judges will be watching and scoring these contestants in behavior, personality, spirit, kindness and sportsmanship. These scores will be combined with Mandatory, mini and large optionals. This winner will not only be high in beauty scores but will be a strong representative of our pageant. The winner will receive the same awards as the other optional supremes.
Aquamarine Supreme (King Supreme):
There will be one King Supreme title if 5 or more boys are entered in any of Supreme Packages I-II. This will be a combined score of Mandatory, mini and large optionals, cover, photomodel and portfolio. The winner will receive the same gifts as mentioned above.
Baby Diamond Supreme:
This title will go to the 0-4 year old who has the highest combined total in mandatory, mini and large optionals, cover, photomodel and portfolio. Contestant must be entered in supreme package I or II. The winner will receive a 5 3 post trophy, beautiful round bucket crown, scepter, monogrammed banner a great gift, $150.00 off Nationals in August, and $300 savings bond (cash equivalent on stage).
Overall Grand Diamond Supreme:
This is GemStars Pageants most prestigious award. The highest combined scores in Mandatory, mini and large optionals, all photo categories, and modeling or talent will win this title. The winner will receive a 5 3 post trophy, beautiful round bucket crown, scepter, monogrammed banner, a great gift, $150.00 off Nationals in August and a $400 savings bond (cash equivalent on stage). You must be entered in package I to qualify for this title.
NOTE: All titles that receive any monetary awards will receive half of the total award on stage or when necessary paperwork is received. The second half will be given at the end of their year reign at State Finals in 2006, IF they fulfill 50% of appearances at pageants, parades and events throughout the year. GemStars wants all title holders to be involved with our system throughout the year but you are not required to only do our system.
ROYALTY SUPREME: Any of the outgoing royalty who placed as queen of queens/ King of Kings or higher at 2005 State can compete for this title. They will compete in formalwear, sportswear and the highest score of either talent or modeling. I will need at least 3 contestants to have this competition. Winner will receive a crown, trophy, banner and gift and at least $75.00 cash on stage. The more contestants, the more money awarded!! Cost for this package is $150.00 or $175.00 with both Modeling and Talent.

There are no discounts off of the Mandatory registration fees. Siblings get 50% off of all optionals, but only one earlybird discount per family. Earlybird only applies to package prices. If entered into Supreme package I your child will have a chance at 7 titles that have a monetary award!!

1:00 PM We will be awarding all mini, large and divisional talent awards at this time. Then we will be crowning GemStars Arizona State Royalty. All contestants should be dressed in their formalwear except for the divisional model and talent winners, wholl be presenting their routines at this time. After they have exhibited their routine they will change into their formalwear. There is a $5.00 admission for all except contestants, one chaperone and Out going Royalty families.
